Hello, looking for help finding people who diagnose and treat UARS. Anyone near KY?
The term Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS) was coined to describe a group of patients who historically did not meet the criteria for diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea, and thus were left untreated. Today, advancements in the sleep medicine field have been made in an effort to recognize these patients. However, most patients with UARS around the world still remain undiagnosed and are ultimately left untreated. In memory of Dr. Christian Guilleminault (1938-2019)

Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome, or UARS is a form of Sleep Disordered Breathing characterized by a narrow airway and excessive respiratory effort. The primary symptoms include unrefreshing sleep, brain fog, fatigue, sleepiness, and sometimes chronic insomnia. Though many sleep studies do not differentiate between UARS and OSA, it is typically diagnosed via polysomnogram (PSG), and sometimes PES (esophageal pressure) which can detect abnormal negative pressure.
