How to play with .nsp and .xci files?

Ok im not used to modern emulator. So i feel like i miss something. I have a game (animal crossing) i have a file.nsp and a file.xci. i read something about jey but i cant figure how to make this work. I serach google but i dont understand. Is there a easy tutorial or can you guys tell me? Tnx!
