Your collection story

Everyone started somehow. What is your story? What was your first record? Why did you decide to continue and collect them? Do you have any methodology when buying records? (only rare, only new, only old, only specific artists, only specific genre).

I'll start - I come from Eastern Europe and when my parents were young, records were very unique, expensive and valuable items. I remember that we had a few vinyl records but the turntable broke down and they were just sitting on the shelf. Later, I discovered my parents' records again in the basement (The Doors, Bob Dylan, The Beatles). I decided I want to get these play again and bought my own turntable. My first record I bought was "Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor and I bought it in a thrift store. I mostly buy old records and very often I try to buy something I don't know, just random picks (rock, jazz, folk, blues).
