Kannada translator for B1/B2 interview in Mumbai
Hi Everyone!
My mother's B1/B2 visa interview is scheduled for this May in Mumbai. However, she is only comfortable to speak in Kannada during the interview. When I requested this on the usvisascheduling portal, the response was -
"We understand you or the person whose behalf you are writing is trying to book a visa interview appointment in his/her local language. Language appointments are no longer offered, please select English to schedule an appointment. If you wish to be interviewed in a language other than English, you may request at the time of interview at the Embassy/Consulate."
I believe this is either machine-generated or a generic message they send to everyone. However, I thought to ask some additional questions here about this and it would be super helpful if you could respond and/or provide some suggestions -
- Does Mumbai offer a Kannada language translator given that it is in the neighboring state of Karnataka?
- If not, can someone (like me or a friend) act as a personal translator to her?
- She also has a serious health condition and she needs someone to be with her always as per the doctor's note (which we can carry to the embassy to present). According to this, can someone accompany her and act as a translator?
Any response will be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance
