Disappointed in Tulsa (Cry Baby Hill Sculpture)

I don't typically post in this manner, but I just want to get it off my chest and move on.

The Cry Baby Hill sculpture.

What has since transpired is that the chosen artist has free reign to adjust his concept, which implies his initial winning score is in question.

This was an RFP in which concepts were judged and selected. Adjustments post award are expected but not fundamental conceptual changes at this level.

I've grown up in this city, and to see the people in charge of this situation have such a 'give me' to turn it into a win and continually ignore those options is such a let down.

The only point I want to make beyond this being unfair is that I disagree with the implications that local artists get the small work, while "Tulsa has the ability to bring in someone like this artist". This wasn't, and still isn't a situation where we lack the same caliber of artist.

Tulsa has incredible artists, but like all 'big' artists, a breakout moment is needed. They gave that moment to someone who didn't need it in any capacity, on top of ignoring the collective community continually.
