Why isn’t the Olympic Road Race a team medal?

The Olympics Road is pretending to be a TT but for 270km.

It doesn’t make any sense that only one rider per country gets a medal for the road race. This makes it extremely unfair for teams with less riders and also provides an issue if you have two riders that could go for gold (Belgium in 2024).

Proposal: make all the teams have the same number of riders and make it a team medal event. Reduce the number of teams and increase number of riders/team to a minimum of 4.
