T490s cracked case - warranty denied
Hello,
I am looking for some advice / help.
About one and a half year ago I bought T490s laptop. Yesterday I've noticed crack on the case near the camera - exactly in the spot where I place my hand to open the laptop.
Please note that the damage is not my fault, because I use the laptop with due care. This fact is confirmed by the lack of visible signs of force shocks, impacts, deformations, etc. In my opinion, damage to the case is due to the place of its occurrence, which may result from the stresses occurring when opening the laptop lid.
I would like to point out that about a year ago in this unit Lenovo has replaced the hinges (factory hinges were defective).
I filed online warranty request. I got asked to send pictures, and then Lenovo has denied to fix the issue under warranty stating that:
"Based on the photos sent, I can state a mechanical damage that is not subject to warranty repair. The symptoms visible in the photos show that the unit was subjected to an external force exceeding the strength of the materials used to build the components. Damage caused by external force is not covered under the support of the basic warranty. They are removed free of charge only if the customer has decided to purchase protection against accidental damage."
I did not subject laptop to external force higher than the one required to operate it (that is to open the laptop lid on a daily basis). This laptop is being advertised as MIL-STD-810G military standard..
Please help. What can I do?
