Crashing upon compiling shaders post patch 1.1 - no fix seems to work, any ideas?
Hey everyone, like other people I've had issues with this patch and haven't been able to launch the game past the compiling shaders part. Initially it just "got stuck" but quitting and relaunching helped, now I have an UE5 crash and/or the game freezing at various stages of the progression. Here's what I tried to no avail:
- force-quitting and relaunching the game multiple times (worked for a while, now I get UE5 crashes or freezes around the 45% progression mark)
- resetting my GPU's shader cache
- resetting DirectX shaders
- removing the "Saved" folder entirely
Of course, I restarted Steam and my PC multiple times. My drivers are up-to-date, I have an AMD RX 6700.
I'll be super grateful for any help. I soon leave for a few weeks and I really wanted to finish the game before so I'm bummed. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Unbelievably enough, for me it ended up working by killing the process in the task manager when it froze or letting the UE crash happen, and re-launching. Each time it would pick back up when it started and eventually it ended up finishing. I'll play for a while and edit again if any crash happens.
