Unpopular Opinion: I Don't Like Naomi's Ending Speech
I see a ton of people online saying they found Naomi's speech/confession to Emily at the end of season 4 heartbreaking and beautiful. Honestly, I do think it's beautifully acted, but I don't buy her excuse.
She cheated to spite Emily for the control Emily had over her??? I don't understand the logic behind that. Like, Naomi was scared because Emily finally made her realize that she is gay and has to come to terms with that and the fact that she loves Emily, and so she slept with Sophia? I just don't know what that would do for her while dealing with those feelings.
Also, let's not forget that Naomi did everything she could to keep it a secret from Emily. It seemed like her goal was to continue as if nothing happened and never tell Emily she cheated. That's fucked.
Personally, I don't think I could forgive Naomi after all that. It would have been better if she had some other excuse earlier on in the story and her and Emily are seen working through it in each episode instead of the whole Emily punishing Naomi and cheating with Mandy mess they did until the very rushed end. I wanted to root for Naomily, but they were a toxic couple by season 4.
