Struggling to get fiefs

I've been playing for a while with the northern empire and I have 100 relations with almost everyone in the kingdom yet I struggle to get fiefs, even when I'm in the army that takes a castle or a town I don't have anyone voting on me so no matter if I vote max on myself I just won't get it, I only have 2 castles and that's all. Is there anything I can do? This is console so I can't get mods or anything for better mechanisms
