Bridging the gap between people who like the old animation and people who like the new animation.
As we know, there’s a split in the Miraculous Ladybug community between those who prefer the old animation from the first five seasons and those who love the new animation style seen in the movie and continuing on into Season 6.
I'm going to try to help bridge the gap between the two perspectives so that the people who like the new animation can understand why people miss the old animation and vice versa.
Why People Love the New Animation:
If you like the old animation of miraculously ladybug, I think what people like about the new animation is that it's more detailed, fluid, and lively overall. The world itself feels more immersive, with richer backgrounds, textures and more dynamic movement throughout the show. There’s extra care put into small gestures, facial expressions, and the environmental storytelling. The rendering is smoother, there's no errors like missing eyelids (the overall quality is undeniably a step up in terms of technical execution and the background)
Why People Miss the Old Animation:
Now, if you love the new animation and didn’t care for the old style, here’s what you need to understand about people who miss the original animation: We don’t really care about all the extra details. We were perfectly fine with Marinette having just a couple of hairstyles and outfits instead of the design team creating a brand-new, highly detailed fashion look for her every episode. (We’re really not that picky, we cared more about the plot)
Our only problem with the new animation is the redesign of the characters. (We think the old character structure is way better than the new one)
In fact, I genuinely believe that if the character designs from Seasons 1–5 were copied verbatim and placed into the new, polished and vibrant world of Season 6, a lot of fans who miss the old animation would be completely fine with that.
It’s not that we hate the new animation world or the improved rendering in Season 6. We actually appreciate the better lighting and smoother quality. The problem lies in the character designs—we just wanted them to stay the same while benefiting from the new animation quality.
