Please help me understand docks and monitor outputs (M3 Max)
Hi all,
Have a lightly used 14' M3 Max (30 Core GPU) on order from eBay which I'm super excited about, however I'm still a little confused trying to figure out what dock to get as it will be docked for 95% of the time I have it. A list of what I'm looking for is as follows:
- Output to two monitors (1080p, 240hz) which have HDMI input.
- A few USB A and C ports for connecting devices,
- Power deliver fast enough to not drain if using intensive workload (96w I believe)
- A power button (if that even works how I think it would?)
I guess it's a thunderbolt 4 dock I need, I've read in places that you need display link docks to be able to stretch over 2 screens as a typical windows layout, or is this just in the instance of a non Max/Pro chip? Also, some docks seem to have USB C/Thunderbolt output at 10Gbs, would these output to HDMI at 1080p/240hz if I buy Thunderbolt to HDMI cables or do I specifically need a dock with 2 HDMI outputs? Looking at the UGREEN Revodok Max 208 for reference.
