IDOC taking inmate property worth thousands

Idaho doc is taking away all the residents tablets starting May 2025. All of their music, movies, games, videos, text messages, etc. will all be lost after 30 days once the system is switched over. Some inmates have thousands of dollars invested into their tablets.

Thave been emailing the JPay liaison asking what IDOC Plans to do for compensation of the loss of property. So far she is dodging the question. Is there a way to stop this? To allow them to keep their tablets and just disconnect the wifi? I've told my husband to write down everything on his tablet and the monetary value. If IDOC does take his property away we will be taking them to small claims court.

Anyone who understands this system and what we can do please help me understand what options we have and what we should do. Can the inmates make up a petition not to lose their property and content?
