Car accident with no insurance at fault, now dealing with a lawsuit

Hi,

I had a car accident on April 26, 2024. My insurance was suspended a month earlier before the accident. I was not aware that my insurance was suspended, as i changed my address and forgot to update my address with insurance. Supposedly they sent me a mail to my previous address notifying me that my insurance has been suspended. Unaware about the mail, i was not able to reenroll with my insurance. My money was being deducted from my bank account and the insurance supposedly sent the check returning the payment back to my previous address after suspending my insurance. I have a Toyota Camry Hyprid 2023 that suffered major damages (Police report says moderate as no airbags were deployed) I incurred 11k$ in repairs and had to pay out of pocket to fix my car. My insurance refused to pay for my damages or cover liability for the other driver involved in collision. The other driver was driving TOYT Tundra Blk 2006 that has market value of 6k$ and suffered minor damages, scratches in one side of back door, and some dents at the rear end with a flat tire as shown in the police report. Coming to today, their insurance asked me to reach out to my insurance to cover the liability which they refused so now i am basically sued by the other driver's insurance company for approximately 15k$ damages in total. Note (no Physical injury incurred to any driver involved in the collision). I don't understand how a car that's valued 6k$ in bluebook costed 15k$ to repair. Can i asked for the receipt of repairs from their insurance? I do not have that kind of money to repair so i would have to do payment plan to pay 15k$ as it is my fault that i didn't have insurance and was at fault. Is it worth negotiating with the law firm or i just have to bare the 15k$ repair cost for a car valued at 6k$? Should i hire an attorney to fight the lawsuit or just pay the money? I don't want to go court if it means i would also have to pay their attorney fees and other costs associated with the lawsuit. Do i have any other option? I have a wife that does not have a job yet and i am the only one baring the living expenses for the both of us. Note (After the accident, I got another insurance right away with progressive)
