Highway Drain Help
Ive owned a 2020 Nissan Leaf Standard Range for about 6 months and today was the farthest ive ever taken it in one go, about 88 miles both ways. Anyway I left my house at 98% and 158ish miles of range and ended up there with around 70%. I thought that was pretty good and didnt worry about the trip back. However on the way home I went from 66% to 40% across what was maybe 8 miles and by the time I got home I was at 19%. After sitting in the car to type this up the charge is back up to 40% but that just has me really confused. Was it actually about to run out or was it just unsure of the charge because of continued use? Is this a normal kind of drain or is it a sign something might be wrong with some of my battery cells? If it had hit zero could I have just pulled over and let it recover like it is right now?
For reference I was driving on the highway most of the time 60-70mph with no air on. Temperature outside is around 90° but the battery says thr temp is normal.
I felt pretty emboldened by only using around 25% on the trip there so I didnt think I would have to worry about my speed on the way home but I almost didnt make it it seems like.
