Best Kindle (or other ereader) to buy now?

I've had a pretty awful week so far, so I am considering trading in my oasis for a new kindle. I have seen lots of negativity regarding the colorsoft kindle and the new paperwhite signature (not being able to sideload and such, idk if that is still an issue or not) but I am hoping for some opinions on what would be the best purchase at this time. Thank you!
