Why is men wearing silver chains seen as impermissible?

Pretty much all the arguments saying silver chains are haram for me say that it’s because of femininity. However, in this modern day there really isn’t really any femininity behind men wearing chains. I know gold is haram for men, however I can’t think of any other reason why wearing chains would be haram.

Any other reasons?
