Reusable filters

What's the thought on those? I had my hvac system installed in 2010. First few years I used plastic one from HD, then a metal one from a well rated American company. Rinsed them every 30 days. Finally, someone gave me a pack of 4" paper filters a couple of years ago, but now that I'm deciding order more or go back to reusable. I disassembled my blower fan recently and it was pretty clean.
