Why no communications over mic

I'm only fresh out of training with a handful of missions behind me but I've noticed (on the PS5 at least) that none of the teams I get assigned to communicate by speaking into the mike. Is there a reason for this? Would seem to make the mission far easier and also more involved if people actually communicated by speaking.
