Beginner golfer - how to leverage data to improve my game?
I’m practicing my 7 iron, 3 hybrid, and driver in 30-minute simulator sessions with Trackman technology. How can I leverage the data output to make small changes to improve my game?
Im considering lessons, but cannot extend my arms beyond 135 degrees and had hand surgery so my grip is closer to baseball style and very very unique (heavy body motion due to limited arm extension) .
I’ve played ~5 to 10 games in my lifetime (30YE Male) and used the simulator for 3hr this year.
My driver averages 200 carry, 220 total, but I’m averaging 70FT right fade (improved from 150FT right fade with stance improvement since start of year). Club speed is 95-100mph and smash factor often 1.35-1.45.
My 3 hybrid averages 180 carry and 200 total on a good hit. I’m having too many hits in the 140-160 carry range, around my 7 iron distance but less predictability. Less fade, 50FT right. 88-90mph club speed on average.
My 7 iron recent practice this morning (only 10 minutes) has improved, but I’m still getting fade right. I think this has to do with my unique swing as it’s much more body motion due to the max extended ability of my arms gives more twist in the swing.
I figure others here obsess over improving their game and curious how I can maybe learn from those who took an analytical approach to improving through data analysis. Thanks!
