Did I stab in too deep?

So I started diamond painting a few days ago. I now got some new stuff and wanted to clean out the pen that came with the kit. But I can't get in deep enough. Disclaimer: I have no real idea what I'm doing and I stabbed the pen in completely into the wax (?) stuff. I'm guessing I don't need to stab in that deep because with every stab the rest at the back got pushed in deeper. I have a new fancy pen now and wanna do it the right way
