Honest opinion, is it "too late" to start this game?

Hi. My experience with Diablo is exclusive to D3. I played that game from launch with the RMAH woes and across a few systems. I loved it.

I have a steamdeck now, and want to play this one, but I get concerned about joining a heavily online based game so late in the game if you will.

Just looking for some thoughts/info on state of the game etc. I have to imagine they will do what they did with D3 and drop it on the switch 2 and breathe fresh life into it. Opinions appreciated in advance.
