Problem with my CRT (Y/pb/cr distorsion)

Hello everyone. I'm having trouble with some weird "wave" patterns on my Sanyo 14' CRT, only on the "DVD" (Y/pb/cr) channel, with the only input of a y/pb/cr Playstation 2 cable connected to it; the cable itself is not connected to the console. I've tried cleaning the pins on both ends of the cable, and it hasn't changed anything. Does anyone have an idea about what could be the problem?
