What happens to profession specific quests (and quest rewards) if I change profession?

Some profession specific quests reward recipes. Is there a way to get these recipes if I change my profession and pick up the original profession again at a later point in time? Are profession quests reset if I change profession? Unfortunately I could not find a conclusive answer to this anywhere on the internet.
