What's Going On With The Franchise?

I'm trying to get into the franchise after playing the excellent Ritual of The Night game that's supposed to a spiritual successor but I can't figure out what's going on.

From my understanding, the last two Lords of Shadows are arguably the worst of the franchise and made by a western/european dev? The TV series also went flaccid after the first two seasons with made-up BS like with most adaptions not from the country of origin? Is the franchise seeing a revival or slow death all over again? Has there been any news about a new game?

Playing through SoTN but I don't wanna invest too much time into the franchise if its permanently on ice or going through enshitification.
