False positive PET scans?

Had my PET scan 5 weeks post chemo/radiation for oesophageal cancer and saw my surgeon yesterday. PET showed no uptake in the tumour sites (yahoo!) but a decent sized patch on the liver. Contrast CT did not show anything and my surgeon showed no concern but has referred for an MRI to rule out.

I am booked for my oesophagectomy Tuesday next week and will likely commence immunotherapy thereafter.

Despite my extremely experienced surgeon showing no concern, I can’t stop thinking about the spot on the liver so I am interested in other peoples experiences, similar or not!
