Becoming a Business Broker

I would appreciate any advice. I am in conversations with an established Brokerage firm in North Carolina, USA. My background is in finance and Business Development. I have had a couple of businesses, but no exit experience. I like to hustle and love the stories behind every business growth. I have seen that there are a couple of Franchises in this space. The company I am talking with takes 50% of the deals, is that common for the industry? Does anyone have experience building their own Brokerage firm? Pros and Cons
