Planning to visit Belgium as a Tintin series fan

Hello! I am planning a visit to Belgium as an English-speaking tourist with a little understanding of French. I'd like to visit Belgium since I quite liked Tintin series and read the whole collection since I was young, and would like to spend sometime visiting nearby countries (Benelux, France, etc). Here are some questions:

1. Which museums/places would you recommend to a tourist?
2. Besides Google translate, can I use English to get my message across effectively in daily conversations?
3. Are there any issues that I need to pay attention during my travel?
