I hate reviews

Most of the bartenders and managers I work with all hate the idea of reviews for the most part, I agree it can be good to look up places and see if other people enjoy it, but the people who review bars are usually the ones who didn't like it, not many people review a bar if they had the time they expected or a good time. That's what they are going out to a bar for, a good time. So if that's what they get, they tell their friends, or come back, but not usually leave a good review

I got a bad review about me last weekend and from the reviewers profile picture and the picture they posted of the drink they got and from the view of the bar it was taken from I know that it was during our busy rush that lasted a couple hours on Friday night. She was sitting on the opposite side of the bar that I was working on, I work in a bar that is in the middle of the room where people can sit or stand at every angle. I was working one side while the other two bartenders were working the other. I had half the bar to keep up with while the other two had shared the other side along with some service tickets. I had a full bar all around us, had about 10 drinks I was currently working on, had another few couples waiting for to get to them and I had gone around to the other side to ask the others a question and grab a bottle I needed. I remember glancing at the people sitting on that side and from the review remember them sitting in front of one station on that side. She had caught my eye and I could tell she was going to try to get our attention, but I was just quickly asking a question so I could return to my side and continue working on those drinks/customers.

She was sitting right in front of a station so I knew that one of my coworkers was already helping her and once he was back to making drinks he would be able to help her with what she needed. Even though I sometimes catch eyes with people that need drinks, if I currently am already helping a lot of people and have other people that have waited longer, then I will hold up a finger politely with a smile to say that I'll be back to help them in a minute so they know they will be helped next. This woman catching my eye was very quick as I was just glancing around while asking my question and just as quickly I had to go back to my side. She made a review describing what I looked like and how I had ignored her and Yada Yada Yada.

Like, lady, we are a fairly small cocktail bar, you already have a drink in front of you and I am clearly busy. You have two other bartenders working near you and you're mad that one other bartender didn't stop what she was doing at peak volume to help you? I'm just so tired of people that leave bad reviews because we are busy. People act like they are the main character and that no one else deserves to get a drink if you need one too.
