Why the obsession with One Night Stands amongst gay men?

Seeing that gay men have a significantly higher rate of STDs than heterosexuals, you would figure gay men would want to engage in either safer sex practices or have sex with a regular partner or FWB more than heterosexuals and yet... in at least half of male on male experiences I've had, after the nut is done, most of the men have little desire to continue hanging out/ever hang out again.

In the event they do, they'll hookup like 3 or 4 more times and then ghost/block you out of the blue one day. This isn't a "closeted" thing either since it's pretty even spread amongst closeted guys, bi guys, and openly gay guys

Is there a biological or social reason for this? Cause generally speaking, this is much more rare amongst heterosexuals
