Would AA even care about customer service throwing me into a panic attack at the airport? Want to get some advice so I don’t waste my time if not.
I recently was stranded at DFW. It was weather related so I know that is an entire dead end and honestly, I know it happens. It was my first time getting stranded before so I had no idea what to do. I also have really bad anxiety and have panic attacks.
I spoke with the first AA team member at COS airport to see what is happening and what to do. He was rude and refused to put me on standby for the next flight because “there was no way I was making the next flight.” Apparently too many people on standby.
So I begrudgingly got on the plane and went to DFW knowing I was going to miss my connection. I got to DFW and was automatically placed on a flight by their system the next morning. Again, this has never happened to me before. I just needed some guidance.
I saw two women working on the computer and noticed the flight was not taking off for three and a half hours. I approached and was as polite as I could be albeit flustered feeling the anxiety and panic starting to rise. Here is how the conversation went:
Me: “pardon me ma’am, can I please ask you a quick question?” Her: “are you part of this flight?” Me: “oh, no ma’am I am not.” Her: “then I’m not answering your question.”
And she proceeds to walk away. She was so rude it actually shocked her coworker. I just wanted to know if getting my checked bag was a thing or not if stranded. Which it isn’t a thing and that’s fine. I just wanted to find out before trying to find a hotel.
I called customer service at this point with a shaky voice barely maintaining. The person was just as rude and told me to get on the flight that I should have been on standby for and lectured me that it was my fault for not getting on standby. Yes, seats became available. If the first AA put me on standby, this would have never happened. There was no way I was making that flight. I was already past security because I was told no one standby.
Queue the total panic attack and having a breakdown in the middle of the airport.
