37 books in German!

I’ve decided to do my umpteenth read of the series in German this time. I’m from the US, learned German in college, and have no opportunity to ever practice. In order to keep from forgetting everything I read a lot, listen to music, and watch a lot of YouTV (which is like an online dvr for tv stations in Germany.)

Since I first started reading WOT in 1993, and have no idea how many times I’ve read the first several books in particular, I thought, why not try the German version this time?

Surprise is on me: When they translated the books to German they split them up into smaller volumes and there are 37 books!!! 37!

New Spring is a single volume, but everything else is split into 2, 3, or 4 books.

Originally I thought I’d do audio book together with print, as I sometimes do. Not this time. Not spending 37 credits on audible. 🤣 Thank goodness for AbeBooks and used bookstores in Germany!

Anyone know of other languages that have the same approach?
