Springfield is great. Let's talk about how great it is.

Been here my whole life, and I can't imagine wanting to live anywhere else. Are things perfect? Never, but there's a lot of good here and I'm sick of people coming into this subreddit complaining. So let's change that.

What are your favorite things to do in Springfield? What keeps you here?

For me it's a laundry list of things.

The presidential library and museum

The Lincoln Sites

Lincoln Memorial Gardens

Washington Park

Southwind Park

Titan Games

217 Cards

Driving distance from STL for a day trip

Driving distance from Chicago for a weekend trip

Amtrak providing easy access to STL and Chicago for day and weekend trips

Horseshoes are delicious.

Buzz Bomb

The Wakery

7th Street Cidery

The Phoenix Center

The Hoogland Center

The Muni

UIS Performing Arts Center

The Nelson Center

217 Food Week

There's so much to do here, that I can't find the time, money, and energy to do all the things I want. Springfield's great. Sure, we have our problems, as every city does, but there's so much good to celebrate here.
