Airlines should state in advance what service is offered on a flight, especially short flights

I took a flight and saw upgrades to first class was only $200, i have never flown first class so i was curious but with the flight time of 50 minutes there was no beverage service or any type of service, I feel like I would have saved $200 if i knew this before i bought the ticket
