I'm broke, frustrated, and hit a roadblock.
I pick up technologies rather quickly but jump to the next as I only learn them to build tools I need and/or want. Pretty much all of my projects are really simple but they solve a bunch of my real life problems, which I'm pretty proud of, but I feel like I need to do more and build bigger things but I just cant find any reason to build large projects so I've been itching to look for those reasons. Probably applying too much pressure on myself and I feel like I'm going at a pretty decent pace all things considered. Anyway, I came here to ask a bunch of questions in hopes of finding the next step I should take.
- Am I wasting my time with how I'm approaching development? By that I mean, is it a negative to pick up technologies only to build some projects and then move on to the next? Should I focus and specialize on one tech?
- I'm a 2nd year BS Information Technology (broke and starving) student and I'm highly interested in either applying for dev internships or taking freelance gigs... or maybe both? How do I start? Are there any companies or internship programs you can recommend? Preferably paid internships with a remote setup opportunity
- How should I go about looking for freelance jobs? I confident I can pick up most technologies and make something out of it, but I don't know if that's enough to land any gigs.
- ... am I going to be okay? LMAO. I'm actually extremely frustrated in uni. I don't learn anything and I feel like I'm wasting my time. But I'm also well aware of the advantages a diploma holds, so I just have to suck it up.
