Does a Pikmin having a flower affect flower planting

This game is designed to be AGAINST you, I’ve destroyed so many blue and purple mushrooms and am yet to receive any blue dianthus. I’m tryna make the most of the few petals I have so is there anything I can do to increase flowers planted? Like giving my Pikmin nectar beforehand?
