Suffix pressure on warrior is absolutely crazy
I was thinking about this as I theorycrafted making changes to my titan’s tree and gear to move towards ar/es with cloak of flame and atziris disdain, probably would’ve been way tankier than my current build, but decided it would be way too tedious to do it given I would lose so many suffixes on rare items.
As it stands now, warriors have to fit in: 1. Ele res (like all builds) 2. Chaos res 3. High Strength on prettt much every piece to wield max level weapons (or get lucky/pay a ton for a decent one with reduced attr req) 4.item rarity (if you want decent drops at all in the endgame) 5. Attack speed on gloves (and ideally + melee skill gems for more damage)
If you compromise on any one of these suffixes, it either significantly decreases your survivability (low res), ability to play the build at all (not enough strength), bricks drops (rarity), or QOL which feels mandatory (attack speed). I feel like I have to absolutely min/max every aspect of the build just to get decent performance in high tier maps, and even then it doesn’t feel great.
Compare this with my stormweaver which basically just has to stack mana, ES, int, and then grab some basic res and some cast speed/regen and is good to go (with a ton of item rarity easily fit into the build) and the suffix pressure on warrior feels absolutely horrible. You can’t experiment with combinations of uniques that don’t have the suffixes you need. You can’t try to fit on other nice QoL suffixes like life regen or life/mana on kill. Funnily enough even if you are the least represented on the meta ladder, you still have terrible build diversity and are forced to gear and path on the tree in a very specific way.
There need to be some changes made to reduce suffix pressure on warrior. Below are some options: 1. Delete item rarity as an affix. This has been talked about enough, no need to reiterate. 2. Add +strength to more notables or small passive skills on the warrior part of the tree 3. Add +3-5% ele res on the nodes that give max ele res and increase the +5% all ele res/+1 max to +10% and +2% max, respectively. 4. Add a cluster notable that grants a percentage of armor reduces chaos damage taken from hits and make the small passives leading to it +3% chaos res 5. Add more nodes that give a portion of armor reduces ele damage taken (like heatproofibg except for lightning and cold damage)
These are very simple steps and would make gearing and theory crafting on warrior significantly easier without compromising the class identity in any way. Obviously, there are other solutions like making some suffixes prefixes (make all attributes prefixes instead), but the solutions above would likely be easier to implement and would just effect the warrior part of the tree (with the exception of deleting rarity, which should be done regardless for the health of the game and economy).
