Parents of reddit, how did you handle your teenagers wanting their first boyfriend or girlfriend?

So, my daughter met a teenage boy while playing an online video game and they have been the best of friends for about a year. They both want to have a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. I mean they're young but man they grow so fast. But I told them , what's the rush? I would rather they continue to be friends and focus on school. Which led her to throwing a teenager fit. What were your reactions when your teenagers decided they wanted a boyfriend/girlfriend?
