I don't "get" HDR?
Ok, I know this sounds crazy, but I have tried several panel and display types and I still cannot truly say I can differentiate HDR from good SDR. Maybe I don't have it configured right, maybe I haven't actually seen the right HDR content, or maybe I haven't done a proper side-by-side on my own displays to compare. But I've never had the HDR "wow" moment.
Please give me a game, or a piece of media, some kind of test were I can really see wtf HDR is supposed to look like!!
I just unboxed my AW3423DWF a couple days ago. Firmware is updated and I used the windows 11 HDR calibration, and know how to turn on HDR/Auto HDR/RTX HDR. The monitor color setting is set to Standard, because Creator looks like shit
PC specs:
i7 12700k
4070 Ti Super
32gb DDR4 3600
Asus prime z690-p
EDIT: Thanks to the help of /u/AccomplishedPie4254 I got settings adjusted and realized it was Chrome that wasn't supporting HDR video for some reason. HDR videos look crazy in Edge! Once again, my monitor is 34" ultrawide QD-OLED AW3423DWF. Standard mode, RGB color space, 75% brightness and 75% contrast, HDR1000 enabled. HDR ON in Windows, calibrated to peak 1000 in the HDR app (with a little extra saturation for my taste). It is looking amazing in DOOM Eternal, Ghost of Tsushima, Cyberpunk and HDR videos on youtube. Thanks everyone for the tips, and now I think I can say...
I get it now (Frank Reynolds image here).
