Any tips to get cheaper flights?

I want to visit other places in Europe but travelling in/from Norway is expensive (e.g. almost 1K to go from Trondheim to Oslo). Is there any tips to get cheaper flights?

I googled but most sites appear to be written by the companies, and don't give really good tips.
