do atheists fear death?

I'm not trying to be rude or anything I'm genuinely confused how atheists do not feel any fear whatsoever about not having something backing them up, do they not consider the chance that the afterlife might be real. i mean you basically have nothing to lose from being religious but everything to lose if you are not
