Dragon Quest Monsters Joker: 2 not reading

Hello, and happy holidays first of all! I received this game as a gift, but unfortunately I’m not able to get it to read on my 3DS. I noticed at first there was an odd white thing stuck between two contacts and removed that, but it still didn’t fix it. I also noticed a small piece of debris near the contacts (seen in 2nd image) that I removed, I tried lightly cleaning the contacts, but no dice. I noticed also that one of the pins is broken, and I’m concerned if this has anything to do with it. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!
