We’re About to Have An Elite Bench

Just that. Our bench is about to fully click. The pieces are there and they’re ready. Minutes police will argue it should have been this way the last three months, but it couldn’t have been until now. Here’s why:

Best Bench Player: Deuce

Obviously great on ball and off ball defense, great shooter. Improvement on creating midrange jumpers. Working on ball handling. HAS BEEN HURT. Takes time to get back into rhythm. Kings game, dude was on - stats don’t show, but he just missed a 3 at the end of the 1st quarter and had one taken away after a tough travel in transition. Deuce is about to deuce.

Most Versatile Bench Player: Precious

Precious was AWESOME against the Kings. He shut down the PnR, he’s so good as a switch defender, plus rebounder. So many options when Mitch comes back!! We need better rim protection? Get in there Mitch. KAT getting beat up a bit on switches? Precious time.

Catch Fire Boys: Cam and Landry

Landry had his first real good game on Saturday. Again - injured players take time to get into rhythm. His defense looks like it is back to what it should be. Cam, I know people are like he’s been here the whole time - but he is the biggest defensive liability of the rotation guys. The other side is he can get white hot. I think Thibs has used him perfectly. Training him to be better on defense, and not letting him learn that if he hits a few shots nothing else matters.

Do we need another player? In Leon we trust. If Mitch comes back as scheduled, maybe we’re set. This team has so much potential, we’re learning everyday.

Bench is about to get some recognition.
