Pre and after school fees for children with Autism - Victoria

I have a child with Autism who began attending a special needs public school. I just got an invoice for 2 days of before and after school care for 596 AUD. It is 147 AUD per session for after-school care and 80 AUD for before school care.

How are those prices normal as they are labeled as "assistance with social, economic and community participation". One the first day of school a person running the program assured me that the pricing NDIS set up would change and simply to email them asking for funding.

Well, we asked, and we were denied as it is the parent's responsibility to look after a child. Sure, question, though.

How can any parent work and drive a child to and from school daily (8:45 drop-off and 14:45 pick-up)? I asked other parents, and for regular school, they pay 45 AUD per day for pre and after-school per child.

Obviously, we cannot afford this, and my partner will have to stop working altogether. How are other parents doing it and is it something to be expected going forward?
