Why did the Heat want PJ Tucker over Dennis Schröder?

The weirdest part of this trade to me is that the Heat could have had Schröder but they sent him to Utah in exchange for PJ Tucker. I know there’s history between Tucker and the Heat and that Riley values guys like that, but he’s not at a point in his career that he’s actually going to be playing. Does the $2 million salary difference keep them under the tax/apron?
