Broke my DEG1

Well, that was fun.

I broke the Minisforum DEG1 dock that I got for my MS-A1. It's my fault, but I want others to avoid falling into the same problem.

I bought my DEG1, and just like a good engineer, I didn't read the manual.

The DEG1 comes with a small metallic bracket that you attach to your PSU, and that serves as a physical support for the GPU.

I didn't install the bracket, and just let the GPU stand on its own. It's an RX 5600 XT, so it's not particularly heavy, but it seems like the slight torque over a week of usage damaged the PCIe slot. The contacts don't seem to work well anymore, and I need to put the board at a very specific angle to get it working, and even then it sometimes loses connection and crashes the whole computer.

In my defense, I work with GPU prototypes, many which don't even have a metallic backplate, and I've had no issues in the past. Maybe the motherboards I've used have much sturdier PCIe slots.

I think this DEG1 is now more suited as a brick, so I bought a new one (thankfully with a Black Friday discount) and this time I'm sure I put the bracket in.

If you get a DEG1, make sure you use the bracket to not put any unnecessary stress to the PCIe slot.
