The unnecessary hate for Elliot?

I get that not everyone liked Elliot on Married at First Sight AU, but the level of hate and bullying he’s receiving—especially on Reddit—is completely uncalled for. It’s one thing to critique someone’s actions on a reality show, but another to tear them down personally for having preferences and wanting a future that aligns with their goals.

Elliot was upfront about wanting a younger partner because he hopes to have a big family. That’s not an unreasonable thing to want—plenty of people have preferences when it comes to relationships, especially when it comes to core life values like marriage and children. The real issue here is that the so-called "experts" ignored this and paired him with someone who didn’t match what he was looking for. Instead, he got matched with someone who, from the start, was very focused on a luxury lifestyle—designer clothes, handbags, the whole deal—which clearly wasn’t what he was after.

People are now piling on him for not being instantly in love or "making it work" with someone who fundamentally didn’t fit what he was looking for. Let’s be real—if the roles were reversed, and a woman was vocal about wanting a man who met specific criteria (age, ambition, lifestyle), no one would bat an eye. But because it’s a man expressing a preference, suddenly it’s "problematic"?

You don’t have to like Elliot, but tearing someone down just for wanting a life partner that fits their vision for the future is unfair. No one should be bullied for having standards, and we should be calling out Married at First Sight for setting people up in mismatched pairings rather than blaming the contestants for being honest about what they want.

At the end of the day, it’s a TV show, and we only see what the producers want us to see. Maybe let’s have a little more empathy before jumping on the hate train.
