Opinion of Immigrants

I'm an immigrant who moved to Knoxville less than a year ago, and I haven't had any unwelcome or racist experiences yet.

However, the election results and the recent online debates on immigration are messing with my mind. It's not like I expected Knoxville to turn blue, but now I keep thinking ~6 out of any 10 people I see must hate that I'm here.

Can those of you who have lived here longer or are TN natives elaborate on what Tennesseans think of (legal) immigrants? Do most people here think immigrants should go back to where they came from, or do some of them vote red for other reasons/policies?
