HR Suddenly Revoked My WFH During Notice Period – Need Advice!
Hey everyone,
I need some advice on a situation I’m facing at work during my notice period (NP).
Background:
- I resigned and, as per company policy, we’re allowed 10 WFHs per month.
- I’ve been following this—either going to the office or working from home within that limit.
- I’ve already started the transition with my replacement and things were moving smoothly.
The Issue:
- Today, HR sent an email stating that WFH is restricted during NP and that we must be in the office.
- They claim this is part of the separation policy, which apparently we all signed (probably as part of some mandatory agreement to access the attendance system).
- I only got this email on 13th Feb, but before that, I followed the usual WFH/office policy.
My Concerns:
- Will this impact my NP? I’ve already committed my last working day to my new employer, and I don’t want any surprises.
- Can they deduct my pay? Since I wasn’t aware of this rule earlier and was following the usual policy, will they penalize me? How do I handle this?
- Work hours question: Today, I started working at 7 AM. If WFH is completely revoked, shouldn’t that mean I also don’t have to work odd hours anymore? I want to ask HR about this—does that sound reasonable?
- Manager’s weird behavior: I have no idea why my manager is suddenly acting off with me. No one else on NP has had their WFH revoked like this. Am I being singled out?
Would love to hear your thoughts on how to approach this!
