Believe it or not, it's our SECOND TO LAST DROP! Two chapters this week, three next week, then no more! I will be very normal about this.

Track 18: Call the Nightingale (Reprise)

Track 19: In Christ Alone

Summary: Twenty years ago, megachurch Mountaintop Praise and Worship disfellowshipped Crowley's band, Starmaker. Sixteen years ago, while playing state fairs, washed up rocker Crowley reconnected with Azir, the keyboardist for Mountaintop's band, Angels Unaware. Today, they're going to have to make some big choices. A story about freaks, faith, friendship, fear, funnel cake, fried condiments, falling, and most of all, Fairs. (And also the 90s.) Mary says: Please read the tags. There's nothing Dead Dove, but it goes deep into religious trauma. And of course, there's a happy ending. THANK YOU, BETAS!! u/millshipu/Zin_lynnu/goatmeal_craisin, and u/on1occasionfork. (Special shout out to u/goatmeal_craisin for sensitivity and workshopping.)

Excerpt:

“No Muriel.”

“Maybe the Erikas kept them busy.”

“Mm. Maybe.”

“And how should we keep busy?”

Instead of answering, Azir just grabbed his shirt and pulled him into an eager kiss.

“What now, angel?” Crowley asked, when they parted, running his hands up under Azir’s shirt and biting his shoulder.

The irritating chime of a phone interrupted, and Azir reached into his pocket. He paled immediately. “It’s Pastor Trong.”

Crowley growled into Azir’s neck. “Fuck stupid fucking Matt Trong. Don’t answer.”

“I have to,” Azir hissed. “Hello?”
